From the Prez

I am indeed grateful to be a member of the Danville Shag Club. I have noticed that our
members not only have an interest in shag and shag music, but they also sincerely care
about each other. It is has been shown over and over again that members are concerned
about the health and welfare of others through their prayers, cards and visits to
members that are going through difficult time. I experience your love at every event with
hugs and kisses and friendly greetings. I am honored and proud to be a member. Thank
you for making me that way.

The shag world is getting ready for their fall migration to North Myrtle Beach where
thousands of Shaggers will gather to greet old friends and meet new ones. This is the
time of year that really gets exciting for Shaggers. We will have an opportunity to share
our steps, jokes, laughter, stories and yes, even our food and beverages. Our area shag
clubs big party will be on the beach in front of the Pavilion on Sunday, September 14th.
This should be loads of fun.

Danville Shag Club met on Tuesday, August 26 and made a few changes. We decided
that more members should be involved so by way of this letter, I am asking each
member to e-mail me on which committee they would like to serve. The committees are
membership, telephone, special events, public relations, ways & means, historian, ACSC
Winter Workshop, junior shag club, nominating, and web site advertising. I will notify the
committee chair to add you to their committee. We need your support and help.

We presently have 109 members and many that still have not renewed. As a reminder to
those that have not renewed by the end of September, you will be removed from the
roster and no longer receive newsletters or e-mails. Please send in your dues for
membership renewal.

We are also looking at more ways to place more value in your membership by having
events for shag club members only and varying the cost of shag club members and non
shag club members at other events.

We also discussed at the meeting our web site and the concern that some have about
people and business advertising on the web site. It was decided that a person or
business that was sponsoring an event, activity, or business for personal gain would pay
a fee for a listing on our web site. For members the cost is $25 and for non members the
cost is $50. A special committee was appointed to work out all the details to report at
next meeting.

I hope you have had a great summer. I look forward to seeing you at the many events
scheduled for fall.

Keep Shagging,

John
